Introduction

Last year I reviewed the larger Lascala LC-01 case which it did a great job at cooling massive amounts of hardware while still looking very stylish. This time I will be taking a look at a smaller HTPC case from SilverStone Tek, the Lascala LC-04.

Looks, size, functionality, heat dissipation and noise are at the top of the list of the points that I will focus on.

Small and stylish

The LC-04 comes in both black and silver so I chose the first as it fits my likings more. Starting with the case front, the main portion is a very beautiful black brushed aluminum which does a good job at hiding the fact that it is a drawer that opens to reveal a 5.25" optical drive bay and various data ports. The lower third of the front is a tented acrylic that is pitch black. On the lower right are the power and HDD LED's that show up as a nice glow in the tinted acrylic. A single power button is in the lower right which looks very nice, even though most AV equipment has the power button on the left side. The top left of the case front has the SilverStone logo which I think looks very nice on this case. The majority though of the front is plain but it really brings out the other features and gives the case a very stylish look. Few people would realize it is a computer because of it's looks and how compact it is.
